Is Economics, Geography, Maths and AS Chemistry for my A levels suitable for economic

I would like to do Economics with management at Warwick Uni, and i am planning to choose the above subjects for my A levels. Is this a combination that would make me competitive and give me good prospects? The course details Only Require an A in Maths, but other than that There don't seem to be any other requirements(Other than the fact that In general Further Maths is recommended. But is it really that important?) And would this subject combination also be competitive for other Unis and economics courses?

If you could do AS Further Maths instead of Chemistry, I would consider that more competitive, but this appears to be fine. For pure Economics courses at Cambridge, LSE, Warwick, Imperial etc I would strongly suggest taking a full A Level in Further Maths because those are very competitive courses. I would suggest sticking to Economics and Management and consider Oxford, Durham, Loughborough, Warwick, Edibpnburgh and other great unis that offer that degree. What were your GCSEs like?

Hi there,

Your subject combination is absolutely fine for Economics with Management at Warwick. The only subject they require is A-level Maths, so you’re already meeting their main academic expectation.

There’s no need to switch to Further Maths if you’re happy with your current choices. A really effective way to strengthen your application instead is to sit the TMUA (Test of Mathematics for University Admission). It’s optional for Warwick, but applicants who take it and perform well are generally viewed more favourably than those who don’t.

Your subjects will also be competitive for economics courses at other universities, especially if you pair them with a strong TMUA score and good predicted grades.

Best wishes,

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for the advice, I appreciate it truly! I chose my options yesterday actually, and I am sticking with those options. However, I am considering dropping Chemistry early on in the year if the workload proves too much. Do you reckon Econ, Geog and maths would still be fine?

Hi, would A*AA predicted grades put someone at a disadvantage as the minimum entry requirement is A*AA?

Yes that will be absolutely fine and won't impact the strength of your application.

Hi there,

Having predicted grades of A*AA when the entry requirements are also A*AA will not make your application weaker. Meeting the predicted grade requirements puts you on equal footing with other strong applicants.

Admissions teams look at your application as a whole (personal statement, academic profile, references, etc.), so being predicted the required grades is absolutely fine and won’t put you at a disadvantage.
