Advice on which course and Uni to apply

Need to advice again on which uni will give me offers based on my predicted grades and which I should wait for clearing in case i get better grades.

My predicted grades are :

Maths - B
Business studies - C
Psychology - C

We were told by the school when applying we can choose one or two uni which are asking more than our predicted grades.

I want to study Finance and technology or Finance, so i have listed the below courses and uni's:

loughborough finance AAB
reading fintech ABB
brunel finance and accounting BBB
sussex fintech ABB
portsmouth Financial Technology ABB-BBB
portsmouth Accounting with Finance BBB–BCC
Royal holloway Accounting and Finance ABB-BBB
southampton fintech AAB
essex Accounting with Finance BBB - BBC
brighton Accounting with Finance BBB–BCC
aston finance BBB
Swansea Finance (FinTech) ABB-BBB

The ones in bold are the ones i am keen on but not sure what feedback I will get.
Any advice on which from the list above i should try now applying.

Hi there! (:

Cant really tell you which courses will/wont give offers as its based on your ps + predicted grades & also any other interveiws, tests etc (course dependent) - but generally when applying as your school was saying, go for a few a little higher than your predicted and atleast one which you'd be happy with that you meet entry requirements for! 😊

That way you have a good mix and a potential insurance option that will be a bit easier to obtain the grades for (:

clearing wise, id wait to hear back from universities and then once you know the situation you can decide if clearing is the best option - theres a button on UCAS for this, but please be sure this is what you want to do, chat it through with someone beforehand as the places your rejecting may not reinstate that offer!

hope this helps, best of luck with applications!!

Hi there,

We do offer a foundation year within Finance, we also have our ICMA centre which brings in the trading simulation technology side.

The foundation year has lower entry requirements, looking at your predicted grades you would be eligible, it’s CCC.

The foundation year is essentially an additional year at the beginning of your degree that helps you build the fundamental knowledge and skills needed for your main course. I completed one in Business, and it was a fantastic experience, you not only deepen your understanding of your chosen subject but also develop key academic and professional skills that strengthen your foundation. It can even lead to better outcomes in your main degree.

You can find more about that here: https://www.reading.ac.uk/ready-to-study/study/subject-area/foundation-programmes-ug/bsc-finance-with-foundation

ICMA: https://www.icmacentre.ac.uk
@ Henley Business School (on campus)

I would recommend contacting our admissions team here: [email protected]

If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this message.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Kind Regards,

Be aware that with BBC your chances of an offer for any ABB courses are slim. You need to work out if you want to do FinTech or A&F - they are very different degree subjects, and A&F is probably going to be far more competitive.
