Transferring Unis?

Hi all!
I'm currently a first year at Exeter and I'm loving it all. However, I'm really worried about second year housing. I'm not eligible for any financial bursaries or grants, however the houses all look way too expensive for me to be able to afford. I have a lovely group and we have a lovely house lined up, but it's just too expensive for me. I feel so guilty about potentially having to withdraw from that situation and disappointing/upsetting them all! But I've been looking at other options regardless, and it just doesn't seem feasible for me. My parents aren't in a situation to be able to help me, and I have a job lined up with the uni but it's on a temporary basis, and I'm struggling to find a job that accepts students!
There's just a lot of stress about the finances, and I'm wondering if the best option for me is to withdraw from Exeter and move back to my home city to be able to live with my parents. Would anybody be able to give me any guidance on this or let me know if I'm being too hasty?
Thanks

In Exeter, there are independent halls of residence that can end up being cheaper than a house share as they are let on number of weeks same as Uni halls. My brother goes to Exter and he had to be in one for first year as went through clearing to Exeter but all uni halls of residence were full. There are quite a few different options and many with a whole mix of year groups sharing - so mainly not first years. Think his one was called northern hay and it was around 6,000 for the academic year. Not sure how that compares to your house? He's on year abroad and thinking of doing that again for his third year as potentially a cheaper option and all bills included.

Hello,

Did you look into private student accommodation or shared student houses? if all the options are not feasible then I definitely recommend starting with your transfer since it can be a long process you have to contact both universities. It's also worth noting that it's better to transfer before starting your year 2 since transferring for your year 3 is very difficult.

All the best
