Hi. I just wanted to know that if I resit GCSE English language and get a lower grade then I did in my original attempt, Would I still have to declare the resit result or could I go with my original result which was still a pass and not have to declare the resit .

Are you applying to Uni this year, and when are you resitting this GCSE?

will be applying to uni in 2027.I had my resit this month. I initially got a grade 5 but Isaw that many of the Uni’s require a grade 6 so Idecided to resit and I’m quite sure that I might’vedone worse this time so I’m rlly worried that this willnegatively impact my chances of receiving offerswhen applying to Unis

Hello!

In the huge majority if not all cases, your original result will be honoured as you still achieved it, so if you achieved lower in a resit it does not matter and this will not negatively impact your application as unis will generally always focus on your best grades. As long as you're transparent about your grades then you should be fine. Its normal to feel a bit underconfident but you never know, you might have done better than you think. 🤞

Thanks so much. Would I still have to put my resit result on my application or could I just include the original one on its own ?

You have to declare all of your qualifications on your UCAS record - you will just have 2 grades for that subject and the best one will be take into account. It always pays to be transparent and open. I hope that helps! 🙂

Thanks for clearing that up because I worried that they might use the latest result.
