Best Musical Theatre unis near Shropshire?

I'm searching for Musical Theatre courses near Telford and want lots of performance and practical work (not much theory), plus good uni life and bursary support.
Im looking for unis that offer singing, dancing, and acting tutoring outside of lessons as well as opportunities to take part in musicals within/outside the uni. Im just interested in going to university for the uni experience and musical theatre is something I really enjoy!

Anyone at Liverpool Hope, Chester the Hammond, or Staffordshire that could you share your experience? Or anybody from other universities that really enjoyed the course?

Hi @Itsjustlinx

It's great to hear that you're thinking about Liverpool Hope!

I have emailed one of our Students Ambassadors who studies Musical Theatre with us to give you a bit of an insight, I'll send her message in when she gets back to me

Hi @Itsjustlinx

I've received this back from our Student Ambassador:

I would say our musical theatre course at Liverpool Hope definitely fits what you are looking for in terms of more practical work, it is around 70% practical split between singing, dancing and acting, however more stronger on the singing and dancing aspects! We do always have essays that we have to hand in but it is only about 3 a year, in third year we only have one but that is due to dissertation.
I do also believe being at Liverpool Hope will allow you to have the freedom of enjoying the university life as well as being at uni for the degree. Liverpool is a great student city with a lot always happening.
Our university also offers scholarships and bursaries which you can get by auditioning for one!
We also do have people from the industry come in to teach sometimes as well!
I hope this helps!

Staffordshire University don't offer a Musical Theatre degree, they do accredit the LMA one but I wouldn't not reccomend that.

My child went to The Hammond and it started off great but after a change of managment became a toxic place I would not recommend.

Liverpool Hope isn;t a course that trains performers but it wuold be great for someone that wanted to go into teaching or working in the arts in general.

You could also look at Edge Hill or the Birmingham campus of Performers.
