Studying medicine in Scotland but practising in England?

Hi, I'm hopefully going to get an offer for medicine next year and going to uni in 2026. I would love to study in Scotland, partly because I believe the fees are a lot lower than in England for me £2k compared to £9k for tuition. However, I do really want to work in England and do my foundation years there, preferably in London as this is where my family is.

I know that it's possible to move from Scotland to England but I'm not sure how easy/common it is to do the transition. Anyone know anything about this or has been in a similar situation?

From few of student room chats I saw, political changes in Scotland may means I cannot practise in England if Scotland leaves the UK?
Thanks a lot

You can study anywhere in the UK and practice anywhere else in the UK without any complication other than succeeding in getting the area where you want for your foundation years. As I understand it, the process of choosing your foundation years goes something like this: you rank the places you'd like to go to for foundation year (I believe you put five options but I'm unsure) and then, the NHS, in its infinite wisdom, randomly ranks students and based on this totally random ranking, the higher your rank the more likely you are to get into your top choice(s) of deanery for training. This totally random thing that you have zero control over is the only thing that may stop you - and everyone else - from ending up in London.

For several reasons that I won't get into, it's highly unlikely Scotland will leave the UK anytime soon, so don't worry about that.

Oh Alright, thanks for your response. I was trying to consider even tho its very unlikely Scotland leaves UK but even in that 0.01% if it did, would it affect that's why I was curious. Thanks for your help
