Exemption course withdrawal: further funding eligibility?

Hi,

I commenced study on BSc Mental Health Nursing in September 2025. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to withdraw from my studies last month. I received the first SFE payment in September 2025.

As the situation leading to my withdrawal is now resolved, I am looking to start a mental health nursing degree again in the future. I have previous study and have a BA (hons) in Creative Enterprise and so I started the nursing degree under ELQ eligibility.

I spoke with an SFE advisor this morning about my eligibility for full funding if I start a full time mental health nursing degree from the beginning and at a different university. The advisor explained I would still be eligible for full funding and tuition fee loan for another 3 years.

I would just like to check this is correct? The advisor emailed me a CO1 form to complete, however I thought a PN1 form would be the form to use, as due to my recently withdrawn SFE application for the 25/26 year I am unable to make a new application online. I did explain I am not resuming my studies or changing to a different university, rather I am seeking to commence a new course at a different university.

Lastly, if I am eligible for further funding - could you just clarify what the academic year would be for a course commencing January 2026? Does this count as a 2025 or 2026 application for finance? And is the PN1 for the right one for this?

Thanks so much!

Hi there,

When you log into your online account what is the application status? Does it say withdrawn? To confirm it would be at a different university but the same course?

Thanks, Drew

Hi Drew,

Yes, when I login it states the application is withdrawn.

And yes, it would be BSc Mental Health Nursing (same course), however. I'd like to start at Teesside University in January 2026 (different uni to the one I withdrew from last month).

Thanks! 🙂

Hi there,

You would need to apply as a new student and if you are unable to apply online it would be a PN1 form. This can then be uploaded from your online account and once received it can take 6 weeks to process. You will be eligible for the funding.

Thanks, Drew
