What is the difference between the nursing degrees?

I am interested in doing a nursing course next year
I have seen that there are courses for adult, children and learning disabilities
What careers can you do with these different degrees?
Is there any benefit in doing a learning disability course or will you still be able to work with learning disabilities as a qualified nurse?
Thanks 😁

Hello,

Adult nursing: any ward involving adults from GP, community, prisons, to wards like oncology, surgery, intensive care, etc.
Child's nursing: caring for infants and/or children for up to the age of 18 and you can also start a career in any ward involving children, children nurses usually work in children's hospitals separate from the normal hospital for adults.
Learning disability: caring for any person of any age with a learning disability in institutions like community, schools or hospitals.
There's also mental health nursing which also involves nursing people of all ages with mental health difficulties and they can work in places like GP practises, hospitals, community and prisons.
The answer to your question is yes😄, you can work with patients with a learning disability in both adult and child's nursing. However I believe the main difference is the specialised focus during your education on learning disability aspects like behavioural interventions, communication, etc. It is also the same with mental health nursing, I am studying adult nursing but I have worked with mental health patients on my placements.

Have you thought about which branch you'd like to peruse/prefer yet?
