From the perspective of a nursing student and a student ambassador hassling between lectures and placement😩, I think I've mastered balancing between uni and social life.
First, you must set your priorities straight. I know that the Saturday night student club event sounds extremely tempting 🤩, but there’s various of similar opportunities that will follow in the future. The number one priority should be keeping up with university work. But of course, that doesn’t mean to give up on your social life.
The trick is to plan ahead of the week, I plan my study sessions first and then fit my social activity around it. But since I absolutely refuse to give up on my social life, I schedule my study sessions within the week so I can have the weekend for friends and going out 🌃.
I know it sounds overwhelming to attend lectures and finish assignments mid-week, but most of us have at least one day off (for me, it’s usually Wednesdays and Fridays) where you can try to catch up on everything. This becomes your “catch-up day/study day” and helps keep stress levels manageable.
The second and most important trick is to start your assignments / exam revision early. This way you can still have a social life during reading week, get enough sleep to prepare for exams and avoid last minute panic. Breaking large tasks into smaller chunks throughout the week is a lifesaver, even 30 minutes a day adds up and makes a difference when it’s exam season.
So, with a bit of prioritisation and pre-planning, you can enjoy uni life and do well academically🥳. Do you have any other tricks for balancing between uni and social life?
