Healthcare professions interview at BCU

hi everyone!!
Ive applied for 2 courses at bcu (radiography and operating department practice) and i got a email today that i have a interview and instead of 2 i have one thats 1.5 hours long. in the interview there are 2 stages, the first stage is a group activity and the second stage is a individual presentation. this is what it states. The individual presentation is your opportunity to introduce yourself and highlight the
qualities and values you would bring to the health professions course you have applied
for.
As part of this task, you will be asked to show an item on camera that holds personal
significance, such as something that represents a past achievement or has sentimental
value.
You should be prepared to speak about:
What the item is
How it has influenced your life or journey so far
And how this links to the values and qualities you bring for the course you
are applying for.
Your explanation should last between 3 to 5 minutes.
There is no requirement to prepare slides or additional materials in advance.
i would really appreciate any ideas on what item i could show and tell. thanks so much!!

Hi, I’ve applied for Speech and Language and have an interview coming up. My interview is exactly the same, I’ve just asked a similar question, as I am nervous about the group interview and if the individual interview will be in front of the group. Hoping someone will have some more advice on how the interviews happen. Good luck 🤞🏼

Ahh I see honestly I’m sure your interviews will go fine don’t worry just try to have an idea of what questions they might ask !! Also can I ask what your predicted grades as maybe that’s why I haven’t gotten an offer because they need 120 points and my teacher predicted me 112 😔

I also want to apply to this uni for radiography but i was wondering have you done your personal statement on radiography? ive been wanting to pick 4/5 choices as mine for radiography but want to leave one choice for pharmacy but my teacher said theyd less likely consider your application if your personal statement is about radiography and your choice is pharmacy. so just wondering what you did x

It isn't recommended that you try to cover two different courses with one personal statement. You risk not getting any offers at all as both courses are relatively competitive. Call the uni that you want to apply to for pharmacy and ask if they will accept a separate PS.

i really wanted to do radiography so i did my personal statement directly on that, however i did also apply for operating department practice and biomedical science aswell and still got all offers 🤷*♀️ so im sure youll be fine. i dont think making 2 personal statements is necessary and probably just a waste of time, do it on the course u mainly wanna do like i did and just send it wherever. as long as the courses are similiar and within the same sector eg healthcare you will be fine.

Pharmacy is more competitive than ODP and biomed so it is unlikely that the OP would be made an offer with a DR-focused personal statement.

for my interview they diddnt ask me questions. it was a group interview and lasted 2 hours. first it was a group task where they gave us a scenario and we had to solve it. it was baso a sinking ship and who would u save, then second half u had to show and talk about a item and say how it links to the course and what values and skills u would bring into the course. at the end u can ask them questions on the course/uni but no where in my interview they asked me questions WHICH THANK GOD. this may vary so im not sure how ur interview would go but this was my experence.
