GCSE history revision

hey I’m doing history for GCSE and I’ve got mocks next week. I’m finding it really difficult to remember all the British America dates and facts. Would anyone happen to know a useful way to remember them, my memory is so useless anyway so it would be sooooo helpful if anyone could suggest anything that potentially helped them I really want to pass all of my mocks

Hi Emily, some people use pictures instead of words and dates on revision tools like mind maps as it makes you use the left side of your brain for images and colour, rather than just the right side of your brain for facts, numbers and data. For example, if you were trying to remember a fact about Warsaw in Poland, you could draw a canon next to a saw (War--saw) and then Po from telly tubbies on a bit of land (Po--Land). It's very silly but it works for some people and the action of drawing these pictures will also make it stick better in your brain.

Another method is to use the Pomodoro Technique where you revise for twenty minutes and then take a break after every twenty minutes. This is because you brain starts to come out of your optimum learning time after twenty minutes so a quick reset of going to get a drink for a few minutes or doing some stretches really helps reset your brain.

Hope these help!
