Help with A-level subjects!

Hi, I’m y12 and currently taking maths, fm, physics and geography, plus classical civilisation at AS.
I originally wanted to do maths, fm, physics and classical civilisation as my A-levels, but that didn’t work with the option blocks at my school as they only have one class civ class. I had to switch to geography and take classical civ at AS off timetable with teacher support instead.

It’s now november, I’m very happy with maths, fm, and physics but I’m really not enjoying geography. Some parts of it are fine (aka human geography) but I really have no interest in the rest of it - honestly I find it pretty boring. I don’t enjoy revising it and since the start of september I’ve barely done any work on it outside of lesson time. However, I do have scheduled lessons etc which is obviously a massive advantage!

Classical civilisation is definitely time consuming but much more enjoyable, to the point where I’ve pretty much decided I’ve either got to fully commit to it and take it as a full A-level or drop it. However I’m obviously not taking 5 A-levels!!
So I’ve decided that:

1. I have to completely drop geography and commit to classical civilisation in my frees - pros I actually like it, cons it’s still off timetable so less structure (may get behind), could regret it
2. continue with geography A-level and classical civilisation AS and continue to try juggle my time between them
3. drop classical civilisation altogether (my mum thinks I should do this) which’d be a shame but give me more time for my other subjects.

It’s compulsory at my school to take 4 A-levels if you’re taking fm so I can’t drop both classical civilisation and geography. Honestly I’m really stuck and would appreciate any advice!
Thanks

If you take full a level, have you asked if you will have timetable teaching time for classics during year 13?

sadly I wouldn’t (we have the same timetable for both years)

that is unfortunate, i think that without teacher contact regularly a level will be difficult, i would advise dropping classics based on this if thats not too upsetting for you

Would the Year 12 lessons in Class Civ fit next year?

Oo I’m not sure, but maybe? If they did would you say I should take the AS in y13 if I still wanted to by then?

It's worth a discussion. WHich A levels does Class Civ clash with?

Further maths :frown: which is a shame, but I need maths/physics and ‘preferably fm’ (which realistically means I need it too) so I can’t drop it. I suppose the only advantage of taking class civ is that if I can’t stand fm in y13 (we do single maths in y12) I could always switch out and still do 4 a levels… but hopefully I wouldn’t have to…

What degree are you thinking of?

I haven’t entirely decided, but probably engineering or finance/actuarial science (where double maths could be helpful?)
