Which A levels for Dentistry?

Currently in Y11. Thinking of doing dentistry, but will depend on GCSE’s

Will take Chem and Biology A level, but need to decide on third choice.

I know most people will say maths, which I think I could probably get the grade but not a subject I really enjoy.

All courses in general do not stipulate a third subject but I was wondering how true this is? Ie do they say that but tend to pick people who have done the combo of chem/biology/maths/ physics.

I am looking at psychology, economics and.history, which I really enjoy. Academic PE could be a shout but I fear this is a non starter.

Any insight or advice appreciated.

Your 3rd subject can be anything. My friend is a dental applicant this year, and she applied with biology, chemistry, and drama. As long as you have bio and chem you are fine. Some unis may prefer a science, however other unis only look at required subjects. So research requirements etc.

Psychology is always a common one tho, if you think youll enjoy it- its deffo worth picking! Especially because it will give you some more practise in a sciencey subject.

It depends heavily on the uni tho, and hardly any prioritise 3 science anyways, many just look at grades and UCAT.

None of the Dental schools stipulate what the 3rd subject should be. So pick something you enjoy and get an A/A* in. Many of the students studying Dentistry with my daughter didn't study Maths. She did Psychology. Others Textiles, Drama, PE or Music.

Hi. So just another question. What gcse profile do they look for? I know it will differ across schools? Are they looking for predominantly grade 9 students across the board ( or majority?). Thanks
