Wrong account payment

I had my husband wrongly put in my son's account details instead of my own and the payment cleared without issues but after a month his bank has told us that they cannot keep that money intended for someone else who isn't named on the account..Has anyone been in this situation and managed to resolve to get their student finance payments re issued to their correct account

Hi Shams#81,

If you are the student, make sure to change/update your bank details to your own now on your account, now that the error has been identified.

The bank can either return the payment to SFE to be issued to your correct account, or if your son has access to the funds, they can transfer the funds to you.

Hi Shams#81,

You would need to ask the bank for their timescales.

Thanks, Clare

They didn't state at any point they would be keeping money that should be returned to SFE so I'm hoping that they will be sending back the payment soon..

Hi there,

If you speak to the bank they will advise when they will send this back to us, and you can ask them for the timescale.

Thanks,
Claire
