Got a 5.0 TMUA. Is it over???

I just got my tmua and it was 5.0. Pretty gutted as I thought i would do a lot better (maybe get at least 6.5) bc i did so much prep. The unis that needed tmua I applied to were Imperial for computing and Cambridge for CS. I know Cambridge has the interview so it is not (fully) over yet, but it it over for Imperial? I am predicted 4A* in math, fm, physics, chem and I applied to their course bc I genuinely liked the structure of it, and I think my ps has a good bunch of supercurriculars.

Okay, the data has just been released and it’s interesting. You’re in roughly the top 40% from the October sitting, but bare in mind that the only real reason to sit it in October is if you are applying to Oxbridge. Being in the top 40% of Oxbridge applicants will probably get you a Cambridge interview and if the rest of your application is strong could definitely get an imperial spot, it also depends on which course you have applied for of course.

Just read your full post btw, no computer science on a computing application puts you in a very specific niche. Can I ask does your school offer computer science?

Also remember that a 5.0 this year was a 6.5 before 2024.

And statistically speaking the unis are going to see that like not many scored that high this year

I was initially gonna apply for engineering but then i swapped to cs bc i didnt really like physics and i went to a couple open days for cs and really liked it, and they said at imperial you dont need cs for computing and they mainly care about math and fm. By then it was around march or smth and my school had already completed all of the AS chemistry course so i saw no point in swapping to cs. I still did a lot of stuff outside to get my cs knowledge up though like MOOCs, books, learning python etc.

Id say you have a chance, but likely borderline. Cutoff for home non-contextual TMUA was 4,9 last year (however Imperial specified it changes year to year).
