Is My Driving Instructor Ripping Me Off?

I'm currently having issues with my current driving instructor and thinking of changing.

Firstly, we will always go down the exact same road every time (I've had about 6 lessons with him). The whole lessons will be spent going up and down this singular road. The only time I have had experience driving on the main roads is on the drive to and from my house.

He barely speaks during the lesson as well only to tell me to at the end of the road and go back round to the start of it again and to tell me to pull up on the left so he can tell me what im doing wrong.

At the end, he doesn't comment on my progress at all and has also admitted he forgets what we do on the lessons when it comes to the next one as he asks me to see if I remember. He asks me how it goes but I don't know what to say because I've just been focusing on driving up and down this one backroad the entire time.

I haven't had the opportunity to do anything else yet such as reversing, roundabouts and parking

I know it's only been 6 lessons but it feels like its repetitive and im making no progress

So, you're worried if your driving teacher is any good.
A good instructor should help you get better bit by bit, talk to you, keep tabs on how you're doing, and teach you new stuff when you're ready. You're not getting good feedback, and they forget what you already did, which honestly isn't very professional.
It's totally okay to switch instructors if they're not teaching you well. You want to make sure you get what you pay for, and nobody wants to waste time. More than that, you need to learn how to be safe on the road, not just how to pass a test. Find an instructor who can explain things well. That way, you learn to drive safely and feel good about it.

Unless you have had huge issues with moving of/clutch control/observations etc, then yes, you are being seriously ripped off. Everyone is different but I was on mainish roads on my first lesson and starting to drive between towns and properly getting into the maneuvers by my 3rd-4th, and that was my first exp driving.

Like if most all you do is drive up and down this one single road, then pull over and he tells you what you're doing wrong, what IS he saying you're doing wrong? and what is he then forgetting about since you've barely done anything?

Is this person actually a professional Approved Driving Instructor? because they kind of sound like an amateur, no structure, no feedback, no progression, almost like they're hoping you'll tell them what they're job is supposed to be.

Yes, it does seem like you are doing the same things all the time. And he shouldnt have to ask you what you did last lesson, he should know. Unless you are having big problems with clutch control or anything like that, then yeah id feel ripped off.
Go with another instructor.
