Are back titrations a part of OCR B chemistry at A-Level?

We have been taught it in class but I can't seem to find it on the spec or in textbooks.

From what I could find, the OCR B (Salters) Chemistry A-Level syllabus doesn't seem to directly talk about back titrations.
The following link contains all the detailed information you could possibly need: https://www.ocr.org.uk/Images/171723-specification-accredited-a-level-gce-chemistry-b-salters-h433.pdf

That's interesting. :curious:

It has appeared on the OCR B paper as part of question 31:

The examiner report contains useful information:

It has also appeared on the OCR A paper as part of question 4:

They have provided plenty of information to answer the question and the concept is somewhat similar to normal titrations. Although because it's not explicitly part of the syllabus, I reckon students panicked upon seeing the question. I suppose it's part of the 'top-end questions' you may come across. I'd familiarise myself with it.

Back titrations aren’t likely to be named on the spec, but they are absolutely examinable as everything you need to know to solve related problems is taught.

I think your teacher is correct and it is worth having had a lesson on them.

Thank you for all the links! The examiner report says the idea of back titrations felt rather difficult to students so I think practicing them more is worth it.
