Is it actually worth applying to an A*AA course with A*AA?

I want to apply to Bath Economics with Politics and I don't know if it would be safer to apply to Bristol which is AAA. My PS talks about both Politics and Economics equally, so i don't know if that'll be a factor too. I looked online and most people who got into this course had A*A*A or better.....

I'm a private school student with no contextuals and no EPQ, so would I be safer applying to Bristol?

One ambitious choice is recommended - you might get an offer. Just make sure your other choices are more in line with your predicted grades and that you have at least one lower grade choice as your potential Insurance choice. And its worth picking courses with any sort of placement or work-experience, or study abroad - this adds heaps to your graduate CV.

Why not? You have 5 choices in your application so there is no harm with 1 choice slightly above your predicted grades. Apply to both Bristol and Bath, think over when you get offers from both. Good luck.
Hi there,

Lovely to hear you're considering Bath as one of your options.

As has been said, 1-2 aspirational choices are definitely worth it. Just be aware that Bath's economics course is very competitive and so even if you meet/exceed the asking grades there are no guarantees of an offer, simply due to the popularity of the course.

On that basis, why not apply to both? So long as you are sensible with your choices and apply to 2-3 realistics and one insurance, aiming for both may be a good option.

The advantage of this is that Bath and Bristol are only a 45 minute, £3.00 bus ride away from each other and so if you decided on one, you can experience and visit both cities easily.

Should you receive offers later down the line, you can go to offer holder days, talk to current students, meet some lecturers and get a sense of whether you'd enjoy living in the city.

Hopefully this helps but if you have any more questions please let us know 🙂
