Optometry at Leicester
Is any could please share his/ her experience in studying at optometry and in which university. How is the course and accommodations. I’m currently year 12 student just figured out optometry course. I have attended to open day of University of Leicester but they will be starting this course for first time in 2026 would you advise me to go there or would you advise me to go to uni which has more experience in teaching optometry

)You have time to revisit Leicester in year 13 to chat to staff and the first intake of students. Although the course has not yet been approved by the GOC, the uni is experienced in running other healthcare courses to the standards required by the HCPC and NMC so I don't think this is an issue. In the meantime, go to open days at other unis so that you get a feel for how other courses are run, the staff and the unis in general. If you receive offers, you will also be invited to offer-holder days in the Spring term of year 13 to help you make your final decisions.
