Low TMUA score

I got a much lower TMUA score than expected (between 3 and 4) and am wondering how badly this will effect my application to Cambridge economics, LSE economics and EFDS imperial as I have already applied. I have 4 A* predicted (including FM) and had strong gcse attainment (all 9s). Is it over for these 3 courses?

I would say so, you are below average in the test taker pool and these are top-tier universities who have cut-offs of >5 for the TMUA. Other applicants will no doubt have similarly strong GCSE and A-Level profiles.

do u reckon a 4.5 meets the cut off for camb/lse/imperial?

Top tier universities have intense academic pressure so your TMUA score is an indicator for that pressure - if you didn't meet the required score then reflect if Cambridge is where you should be going? The name alone will not get you a job, employers are more savvy now when choosing which graduates to employ. I have seen graduates from other Russel group universities and low end universities doing amazing work and more opportunities than Cambridge graduates.

Cambridge doesn't have a cut off- they interview I think the top 80% of scores. You cannot know your chances but I do think it's very college dependent on whether you get an interview. If you get an interview it should be okay, but if it comes down to you and another similar candidate obviously you are very disadvantaged. There was at least one offer for a 3.7 last year I think. I'm not sure LSE has a cut off explicitly but I didn't see any offers below a 4.5. I got just below that and didn't get a place based on my TMUA.

And yes, you will do well wherever you end up. A bad score doesn't necessarily mean you can't handle pressure though, I think you probably stressed yourself out because you knew it mattered. Happens to the best of us.
