Uni subject choices

My son is thinking of taking PE A’level he is a competitive rower and interested in the effect of sport on the human body, he is also thinking of taking English Lit and Lang, he needs a third subject what would go well with these? He is thinking maybe biology or psychology, any other subjects that you think would compliment? He would like to work in the sporting field but not sure how, possibly writing, possibly sports therapy he is not decided as to what way to go and what to study at university. Please help!

Hey! Biology or psychology would both work well with PE as they relate to anatomy, physiology, and understanding performance and behaviour. Other good options could be chemistry if he’s interested in nutrition or exercise science, or business studies if he’s thinking about sports management or writing in a commercial context. If he’s unsure about university, choosing something that keeps options open like biology or psychology is a safe choice.

If he is aiming at a University degree, he needs to look at the sort of courses/subjects that interest him and look at the 'entry requirements' - which A level subjects/grades, and GCSE grades, are essential or preferred?

Courses | School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences | Loughborough University (scroll down for sports courses)
Sport and physical activity courses | Sheffield Hallam University
Undergraduate study in the School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences | University of Essex
Etc etc

Either biology or psychology would work really well with these subjects, make sure he checks the entry requirements for a range of courses he might be interested in though 🙂
I do a level bio so would be happy to answer any questions you have, i can also tag someone who does psych if you have questions on that!
