Healthcare related courses are mostly accredited/recognised. As far as the course is accredited/recognised, the name of the uni makes no difference. It is also ok to apply to more competitive unis - you have 5 UCAS choices. Good luck.

Useful careers info - but be aware that Radiography is very competitive- Diagnostic radiographer job profile | Prospects.ac.uk You will need as much work-experience as you can get - care-homes, special schools, NHS settings etc - as you will be up against older applicants currently working in these areas.

There are many other areas of healthcare out there - audiology, speech therapy, dietetics, etc etc - look at the 'Allied Health' tab here Explore roles | Health Careers

On campus Experience Day for a range of healthcare careers - University of Gloucestershire Event | Health Taster Day - 28th November 2025. And Teesside University Event | Health professions day - 24th June 2026.

hey I read the article on the prospects website and it says "There is currently a shortage of diagnostic radiographers, with not enough radiographers joining or remaining in the profession." - do you mean it is competitive as in uni course or career itself?

Course entry is competitive - its a demanding course / career, and Unis are picky about who they take because of professional standards, and place numbers are limited by professional bodies. There is also a recruitment and retention problem, as there is with many NHS roles - long hours, shift work, not great pay etc - means many people do not stay in the front-line job long term.

Hey there, if you’re looking into radiography, LSBU is a really strong option to think about. I can’t speak about other universities, but I can tell you what studying Radiography at LSBU is actually like, so you know what to expect.
LSBU has one of the most established radiography departments in London, and the course is very hands on. You spend a lot of time using our imaging suites, practising real clinical skills, and learning in small groups where the lecturers actually get to know you. One of the biggest benefits is the placements. Students go out to NHS hospitals across London, so you get proper experience working with patients and using real equipment early on.

The teaching team is supportive, the course is accredited, and students often say the placements help them feel confident and prepared for working in healthcare. If you enjoy practical learning and want a course where you’re developing real skills from the start, LSBU is definitely worth considering.

You’re always welcome to explore LSBU further. You can book a campus tour https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/study/study-at-lsbu/open-days/campus-tours to get a proper feel for our spaces, and you can chat with our current students on Unibuddy https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/student-life/chat to get an insight into the courses you’re curious about.
