Contact the uni and ask if psych if considered a science, this is variable. They also have a foundation year which you should consider 🙂

Hey there, you’ll be happy to know you’re on the right track. For Diagnostic Radiography at LSBU, Psychology is accepted as a science for this course at LSBU, so that already puts you in a good position. Alongside your other A levels, you’d just need to meet the overall grade requirements when you apply.

LSBU is a really solid choice for Diagnostic Radiography. The course is very practical, you spend a lot of time in our imaging suites practising real skills, and students go out on placements in NHS hospitals across London. The lecturers are supportive and know you by name, and because the groups aren’t huge, you get more help and confidence with the clinical side of the course. Most students say the placements are the best part because you start feeling like you’re actually becoming a radiographer.

You’re always welcome to explore LSBU further. You can book a campus tour https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/study/study-at-lsbu/open-days/campus-tours to get a proper feel for our spaces, and you can chat with our current students on Unibuddy https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/student-life/chat to get an insight into the courses you’re curious about.

Psychology is accepted as a science subject for DR by some unis so you don't need to switch any of your A levels. LSBU has confirmed that they accept psych for DR and the following unis will also be options for you:

Exeter, Hertfordshire, Plymouth, Salford, Suffolk and UWE (CCCU and Portsmouth are also possibilities but call the uni to confirm if you wish to apply).

Hey @maroo! ,

It'll depend on the Universities you're considering - some consider Psychology a Science, so its worth really having a look into a range of university options! For our Diagnostic Radiography course we ask for at least one science mandatory from physics, biology, human biology, chemistry, or psychology at grade B,so your subject areas would be fine for us! I;d also really recommend taking your time with your personal statement - you really want to show you both understand the role and responsibilities of a radiographer and also have the personal qualities of a healthcare practitioner (compassionate, supportive, kind etc - look up the NHS values!). Radiography courses are often competitive, so you want your personal statement to stand out from the crowd.

I'd also really recommend visiting the universities you end up shortlisting for radiography, as you'll obviously want to make sure you're happy there, but also that the medical imaging facilities they have for the course are good and used frequently as a part of the course.

Good luck with your applications!
