Economics Bsc uni choices

Hi I'm predicted triple A* but I really think it’s crazy inflated. My school is definitely very generous, despite being selective, and I’m a bit worried because I don’t think its a good rep of what I can actually achieve. When I did my mocks in year 12 a lot of the papers were made by the school and I had seen the questions before, and my friend and I also did a paper the day of, and it was the exact same as the mock one, which 100% made the majority of my UCAS predicted. Plus I was really good at year 12 content and I’m so bad at year 13 stuff it’s a bit dodgy.
My uni choices for economics bsc at the moment are:
UCL (A*AA), Warwick (A*AA), Durham (A*AA), Notts (AAA) and Surrey (ABB). I know that I’m the only person who can really determine how capable I am to get these grades, but is this a really risky lineup because I’m acc really scared 😭. I feel like my grades are too high, but at the same time I love my top 3 unis. I’m not too sure on Notts, so if anyone knows anything about it please lmk…

For Economics BSc, Warwick is actually a really good place to consider, especially if you like a course that mixes theory with a lot of real world ideas. Many students choose it because the teaching is quite strong and the department gives a lot of support when things get hard. People also like the campus because it helps you stay focused and there are plenty of events related to economics and finance throughout the year.

About predicted grades, a lot of students feel the same way, so you are definitely not the only one. Predictions can be a bit strange sometimes and they do not always match how people feel about their own ability. What usually matters is staying consistent during year 13 and getting used to the content as it builds up. Plenty of students with similar worries end up doing very well here.

I cannot say if your list is risky, because everyone feels different about it, but having Warwick in your choices gives you a solid option with strong academics and a very supportive environment. If you like your top choices, it makes sense to keep them and give yourself the chance. You can always look more into the modules and maybe talk to someone from Warwick to get a clearer picture of what the course feels like day to day.

If you stay steady and keep working through the year 13 content, you might feel more confident about everything as the year goes on. You are definitely not alone in feeling scared.

Hey, I'm in the exact same situation as you. My economics predicted grade is probably inflated (my teacher literally gave us the mock we were going to sit 3 days before the exam!). Based on that I did go for slightly less competitive unis: Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham. But also took a chance at LSE for Economics and Economic History. One thing that might help decide is the historical entry data on UCAS' website. For most courses it will tell you the average grades achieved and what percentage of students with certain grades below the requirement got in. It might help to put your mind at ease for some, but for unis like UCL, Durham, and Warwick, they are pretty harsh. Of you are worried about your predicted grades being inflated though, just do a lot of past papers and prove to yourself that you can achieve the grades you need

I’ve got a really weak TMUA but 4A*s predicted and an achieved A* in my EPQ, will having only a 4.1 in the TMUA, lowers my chances at getting into Warwick econ

Hello, I was predicted 4a*s one of those being further maths, my tmua was only a 3.9, how badly does this hinder my application to bsc economics this year?

I wouldn't worry too much... York for example takes people with ABB/BBB in clearing so even if you don't get the grades you will get a place at a somewhat decent uni
