Sounds like you’re a UK national and should be selecting that option somewhere.

OP is almost certainly eligible for British nationality, but whether they have it or not is another matter. One needs to apply to get nationality, it's not an automatic thing.

OP, have you asked your parents about your nationality/immigration status? They should (hopefully) know.
Hi Alexia,

I completely understand that it can feel confusing when trying to confirm your immigration status with a university. However, based on what you’ve shared, you are definitely considered a Home UK student and are potentially eligible for Home UK tuition fees, including student finance support.

For anyone else reading this thread who may be unsure about their own status: don’t worry. Most universities have a dedicated visa or immigration team who can confirm your status once you provide the necessary documentation. At De Montfort University, this process is particularly straightforward, as our dedicated visa team typically responds within a few hours and offers tailored advice for your specific situation.

Our team provides extensive support to both international and Home UK students. You can contact them at [email protected] or visit our website:

I hope this explanation is helpful to anyone who may need guidance in the future.

Best wishes,

They've now edited their post to clarify they are not a UK national. I agree, speaking to their parents is the quickest way to confirm their residency status.
