University Application

My predicted grades are around AAA/AAB.

I am definitely going to apply for business at Bristol, Bath, Exeter, Nottingham.

I am struggling to find a 5th choice which matches the choices above. I want it to be a more safety/insurance choice, so more like ABB/BBB. But i don't want it to be a very bad, discredited uni I wouldn't even want to go to.

Since I'm going to apply for 2X AAA, 2X AAB, I do need 1 that's ABB/BBB. Can anyone help me find this last choice? (it doesn't need to be business exactly but along those lines.

For a solid safety choice with ABB/BBB, you could consider unis like Leeds, Birmingham, or Manchester for business or related courses they’re well respected but typically have slightly lower entry requirements than Bristol, Bath, Exeter, or Nottingham.
Other options could be Surrey, Reading, or Aston. You don’t have to stick strictly to business; courses like management, economics, or finance are closely related and would keep your options open.

Thanks, although I do not do maths A level and so would have to be business or management. I have already looked at Leeds Manchester and Birmingham but they are still AAA, AAB, not quite ABB/BBB. Or are they more lenient than others?

Ah okay, if you’re sticking to business or management and not taking A-level maths, Leeds, Manchester, and Birmingham are usually still AAA/AAB for most business courses, so they might not be the best safety options. They can be a bit flexible depending on your profile, but for a true ABB/BBB safety, you might want to look at unis like Surrey, Reading, Aston, or maybe Leicester. They have respected business programs and lower entry requirements.

You don't need to add you fifth choice now. You can submit your application with the four choices and see what responses you get before adding your final choice by the January equal consideration deadline.

Lancaster might be a good ABB choice:

Hi James!

Like Normaw mentioned Lancaster offers plenty of business courses which you could apply for with ABB grades 🙂 Our Management School is highly ranked globally with business school accreditation with AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. We have loads of different business courses available which you can browse here : Undergraduate courses in LUMS - Lancaster University . The ABB entry ones are:

Business Analytics

Business and Human Resource Management

Business Management

Business Management for Enterprise

The above courses include the option for a year in industry or an opportunity to study abroad as well with no additional increase in A level Requirements. Th only business degree we require AAB for at Lancaster is Business Economics.

If you have any other questions do ask away!
