Worth applying ?

Hey i don’t know if i can apply to bsc maths with econ à LSE.I am currently in first year at EPFL(Swiss fédérale institute of technology) and I want to apply for an entry in 2026. I got my French baccalaureate this year with 17.33/20 generale average with both 20/20 in maths and physics-chemistry at final exam which is far over A* which is 16/20.

However i got 12.4/20 in advanced maths in general average because there is no final exam and my teacher was crazy, we were doing Groups ans rings. Im not even doing it at uni now. Your grade in advanced maths depends all of your teacher so it’s not fair

The problem is that A in further maths is 15/20. I’m 2,6 points away. Can I have a chance as EPFL is well know (top 20 uni worldwide) thanks!

Go for that! UCAS application fee is the only cost - you lost noting even if you got rejected. YYour grades are good and you may include your EPEL results in your application. Alternatively, you may opt for a MSc after EPFL.

Apart from LSE, there are several reputable unis worth applying to. Good luck.

Hi there!

Always worth applying for 1-2 unis whose asking grades are a tad (1 grade?) above you're predicted/achieved grades as aspirational choices. Just be aware that LSE is a very competitive place for most courses and so it would be sensible to have a few realistic and one insurance as back up options if you'd like to study in the UK.

Also might be worth checking out what you need to do to tell your unis about extenuating circumstances or mitigating circumstances. If there were genuine problems with your teachers/staff availability or disruption to your advanced maths teaching during the year which could have affected your capacity to study and achieve your best, then unis may consider this as a mitigating circumstance and give additional consideration to your advanced maths grade.

Hoping this helps! Best of luck 🙂
