Early applications and offer timeframes

My son’s school has still to complete his UCAS reference, although rest of his form is good to go. I’m worried that not submitting early will disadvantage him for his first choice, Mathematics at St Andrews, as already know students who have received offers (we’re Scottish and it may be offers for international Students?). Can anyone please advise and hopefully reassure an anxious mum! Plan on chasing his school today to hopefully submit by the end of the week. Thanks

My son (Scottish student) has had application in to St Andrews since early October, and no response yet. I wouldn’t worry, from experience with my older child St Andrews take their time, he didn’t get a response from St Andrews until Easter a few years ago.

Thank you, think I’m more anxious about it all than he is!

Hi! I’m an RUK St Andrews offer holder for Earth Sciences but I’m 99% sure that each candidate is only competing for a place with those within their fee status so it doesn’t mean anything that international students have been getting offers and I wouldn’t worry. Scottish students also tend to get offers latest for St Andrews but that is just the order they hand out applicants and is in no way a disadvantage. I hope he gets an offer!!
