University of Reading Applied Psychology Msci

Hi,
I'm a Student in year 13, studying Psychology, Biology and Maths (AAA predicted) I am considering applying for University of Reading Applied Psychology Msci, but 1. I'm not too sure on the uni itself, like does it matter if its not Russell group and what's the area like and 2, the UCAS website says there'll possibly be an interview, and whilethe uni provides some info on the interview it states there'll be a roleplay, which I'm not too sure about. I am also applying for the University of York Msci Psychology course and the University of Birmingham MsciPsychology and Psychological practice course. I want to pursue a career in clinical psychology so I'm really unsure what to go for. Please help!

Good afternoon,

It's great to hear you are considering the University of Reading. Often, employers do not view non-Russell Group students with prejudice, as Russell Group universities tend to focus on research, which does not necessarily mean they are better for employability. Typically, employers look for experience alongside your degree, so if you work hard during your studies and gain lots of work experience and volunteer work, then you will have a higher chance of finding a job.

The University of Reading has a great Careers Centre, where they offer Advice and development from their highly staffed Team. They can help with finding jobs and internships while at university and with securing graduate jobs.

The University of Reading offers an ambassador scheme, allowing prospective students to connect with current students. You can find more information here.

The University of Reading assesses every application on an individual merit basis, ensuring that every student's application is considered; this is the contextual offers scheme. However, this does not mean that every student receives an offer from the university.

Generally speaking, the town centre has a lot to do, including sports activities such as bowling. There are also great places to eat out, and the local town has a variety of shops. The mall is called the Oracle.

For information on the student union, I highly recommend visiting this website: https://readingsu.co.uk/. This will tell you everything you need to know about the social lives at Reading, and you will see the list of freshers' events on their social media. The clubs and societies can also be found on this website. There are many options to choose from, but be aware that the societies can change every year, depending on student popularity. Therefore, the societies you see now may not be available next year. In terms of sports societies, there is a wide range, from netball to scuba diving and archery. If you are looking for something more outgoing, the mountaineering society might be a good option, as they offer weekly indoor rock climbing and bouldering sessions to attend. There is also a sports complex with a gym, gym studios, and sports halls. https://sport.reading.ac.uk/

For any course-related information, i highly recommend you contact our unibuddy ambassadors with the link provided above.

All the btes,

Good afternoon,

It's great to hear you have an interview.

The University of Reading has a webpage dedicated to Interview Information and Preparing for Interviews. It's a great way to ensure you know what to expect.Similarly, there is a guide to the interview questions that may be asked. They are not the exact questions you will be asked, but they help to see what questions may be asked

The University of Reading offers an ambassador scheme, allowing prospective students to connect with current students through messaging; more information can be found here.

All the best,
Ella
