Christs hospital interview

Hi everyone,

I’m applying for Sixth Form at CH and would really appreciate any advice for the interview process. I’m especially interested in:

Tips on how to prepare for the general interview (e.g., personal questions, school involvement, motivations).

Advice for the subject interviews, specifically for History, Politics, and Psychology what kind of questions or discussions usually come up?

Any general tips on making a strong impression or what interviewers tend to look for.

If anyone has experience with CH interviews, your insight would be amazing!

Thanks so much

CH interviews are usually friendly and focused on getting to know how you think. For the general interview, be ready to talk about why you want to join the school, what you enjoy academically, and how you’d get involved in school life. Think about one or two examples that show maturity, curiosity, or commitment.
For the subject interviews: History often involves discussing a source or explaining why an event mattered; Politics might ask about a current issue and how you’d analyse it; Psychology usually tests your interest in behaviour, research methods, or why certain studies are important. They’re not looking for perfect answers, just clear thinking and enthusiasm.
Best impression = be calm, show genuine interest, and explain your reasoning out loud. They mainly want to see potential, not prior knowledge.

Thank you! Would I choose the subject that I would like to be interviewed in or would they choose for me? Also, do you know how many are roughly invited for the interview - i hear back from them next week and I'm quite anxious as I don't really know how they select people for the interview.
This is posted in the University of Cambridge forum, would you like it moved to the sixth forms and colleges forum?

it varies year to year, but typically, they invite a small group for each subject to keep things manageable. I’m sure they’ll be looking for potential and enthusiasm more than specific knowledge, so just be yourself and stay calm!
