Medicine Interviews

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone’s started getting interview offers yet for Manchester, Liverpool, Sunderland, or Keele for Medicine? Do they send them out in batches and if you know any other info please share.

Also, for people who’ve already been through this, how did you prepare for your interviews?

Thanks!

Hi, I got an interview and offer from Liverpool for med during the previous application cycle; my best advice would be to practise personal attributes questions and ETHICAL SCENARIOS such as leadership, team work, stressful situations etc all those personal situations you developed a skill in during work experience and how you plan on building on those as a med student and as a future doctor in certain situations.

Through practising these skills questions out loud to myself I was able to apply them to literally any question thrown at me because I had a few points for each attribute/ skill I had. Also ethics - try to include the 4 pillars in every station as much and link to beneficence, non - maleficence etc.

Hope this helps! If you're still uncertain, the memo is to over-prepare by constantly reflecting on what you learnt in your work experience. If you don't have a particular skill like leadership, i would recommend you mention how you witnessed someone else do it. For example, I witnessed a team member during DoFE plan the route by taking in everyone's opinions, this taught me that leadership employs inclusivity towards other people and consideration, which is something I aspire to develop through university and as a future doctor. This is important as a doctor because you'll have scenarios where u need leadership blah blah etc

I scored pretty high in stations where I talked in depth about my skills and where I planned to apply them as a doctor, also once again I mentioned that these personal skills j had would be linked to whichever ethical pillar - I don't think it's necessary u mention ethics in personal attribute questions but I did anyways lol

Please lmk if you'd like help on anything specific!
