Hello.
I am undertaking a midwifery degree and have had to extend my final year for 6 months due to hours and births I need to go. I have been extended for 6 months, full time and will spend the 6 months on placement. I have applied for SFE and have been given an entitlement however the SSE is missing from it and I assumed it would be on there as I am a single parent. Should be entitled to the SSE or do I not receive it as it was already given on my original 3rd year entitlement (when I stated). I receive universal credit which is basically just my rent and they deduct SF off my entitlement, without the SSE on my entitlement for the extension, they are going to deduct more. I don’t care about receiving extra money for SSE, it was more for the little section that says DWP will disregard x amount which I now don’t have so the full amount will be deducted.
A further question- when universal credit it work out my deductions, should be they be doing it for the 6 months that is the extension, or should they fully re-work out my final year inclusive of the extension so technically my 3rd year is 18 months and they add the original SF and the new SF entitlement together for the figure. I would ask universal however they are far from helpful when it comes to SF deductions and I’ve often had to tell them how to do the calculations. Thanks
