Is it okay to fake enthusiasm in sixth form interviews?

Hello, I’ve had some interviews for some independent schools for my sixth form, I got to be honest, some of the schools I applied were essentially ‘safeties’ and of course I’d like to go to those better ones, but during my interview I really ‘faked’ my enthusiasm and I basically lied telling them that this school is definitely my first choice, and their reactions were really genuine, and I felt like I’d have to accept yhe offer of I got a place even I don’t want to go, do most people really fake these passion and enthusiasms during interviews even if they don’t consider them as their first choice? Thanks

yup, and most definitely, and trust that it's completely normal! I've applied for 5 schools (westminister, winchester, brighton, sevenoaks, wellington), and westminister n brighton is most definitely my top choices, and although i probably got into sevenoaks and wellington, i'm not that tempted to go, but i definitely told them that i was eager and incredibly keen to join their community (talked about how much im looking foward to enter their big family lolll). This is something that everyone does, and faking enthusiasm is a skill that we should all have and definitely an interview skill, so its all good!

Thank you! I've just had three interviews - two of them I think went pretty well - I had a lot of things to say as I do a lot of extracurriculars like music and sports and other academic stuff(idk if they'll care much about those extracurriculars tho), for my third one I got a bit nervous and they sort of didn't ask what I expected so I didn't have a lot to say, like they asked me about social media and what challenges I've faced and my brain just went blank🤣. I did manage to say something though but the quality isn't the best and I stuttered a LOT😅.

Good luck on your westminster interview! I think it's next week and I'm panicking lol
