Is there a maths station at RVC... I'm really hoping there isn't because that's my worst nightmare!!!

People who have done theirs will say they can't say but in past years there hasn't been one. They say they change their stations every year but again in past years they haven't.

What was he doing?

Instead of being encouraging or offering helpful prompts, he was putting down any answers and suggestions. He really stood out from the other interviewers who were really lovely. Whereas they drew me out, he made me shut up and withdraw. It was a really unpleasant experience and totally against all of the stuff RVC has said before about what what to expect. I don’t mean to scare you and hopefully you won’t have him. Most of them are really nice so please don’t worry. Good luck!!

That doesnt sound great but I guess you'll have to deal with people a bit like that as a vet, but as you say the RVC say they don't do that kind of thing. Did you get his name?

I wish I had. I’ve even considered contacting them about it, especially as everyone in my group said the same as well as others on here. It makes it a bit of a less level playing field because there are three groups doing MMIs simultaneously in different rooms and the other two groups said all six interviewers were lovely. I’ve decided against it because I don’t want to look like someone who complains (especially if I were to be the only one, although clearly others felt the same). The next interviewer actually asked me if I was ok, as I must have looked so traumatised. She was lovely. She must be used to people coming to her station, having been brutalised by this man!

oh no so sorry you had such a terrible experience, it’s definitely very out of place for RVC as in my experience and everyone else I know here had a really pleasant experience and my favourite vet med interview when I was applying by far. Was this a roleplay situation? those can be quite intense and interviewers can sometimes go a bit too far into the situation to see how you would react so his attitude would be no indicator of how well you did.
If you have any concerns or questions that I may be able to help with please feel free to reach out and pm me 🫶🏻

How did it go? Any tips on what to expect (obviously not questions but general vibe - and also what to wear?)

I attended the US interview but everyone including myself were in a suit or dress pants with a nice blouse / button up.

Home fee paying or international fee paying?

I missed the first slide of the opening presentation that showed the number of applicants and offers in respective types of application. If anyone has a photo of the slide or can share the information, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Hi I don't have that but I do have a load of data from freedom of information requests is there something you're after? If I don't have it I'll get a photo of it tomorrow!

From memory, over 2,000 applicants, close to 600 interviews, around 280 offers, approx. 83 (maybe 85) students attend.

Here is that first slide. Do bear in mind though that this is overall and the offer rates for home students are vastly lower compared to internationals.

Thank you very much for your kind follow-up and the photo showed herein. I truly appreciate it.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year filled with joy, good health, and success. I do also hope that we both hear good news from RVC soon.
