is bangor uni good for law?

hi!! im applying to uni for law to start in 2026 - my predicted grades are ABB, and I was thinking of applying to Bangor because the required grades are between AAB-BBC if I remember correctly, but I am being told that I shouldn’t go there and that it’s not good for law, without explaining. would anyone be able to tell me why people might be saying this?

Maybe you could compare the unis that have similar requirements. Every uni has its own goods (and bads). Good luck.

If you’re eligible for contextual, look at Southampton maybe and other unis around the top 20 range? xx

Bangor has no reputation for law. Not a bad rep, but not a good rep either. It's an obscure university. It's probably better than Bedfordshire. But being hit in the face with a ten day old haddock is better than Bedfordshire.

Hi melonsally,
I’m really pleased to hear you’re considering studying Law at Bangor University. Choosing the right place to study is a big decision, and it really does need to suit you your goals, your personality and the kind of environment you want to be part of.

🌟 What makes Bangor special?
Bangor is a small city with a big sense of community. Because of its size, students often say it becomes “home” very quickly. You’re never just lost in a crowd you actually get to know people, and they get to know you. One of the things Bangor is well-known for is its supportive atmosphere. Here, you’re a name, not a number.

⚖️ Why choose Law at Bangor?
Bangor’s Law School really puts employability at the centre of what they do. You aren’t just learning from textbooks you’re applying the law in real-world situations from early on in your degree.
One of the biggest strengths is the Bangor University Legal Advice Clinic (BULAC). Students can work with actual clients on real legal issues in the heart of Bangor High Street, not hidden away on campus. It’s a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build confidence and develop skills like communication, client interviewing, resilience and professionalism - all things you can’t learn from lectures alone.
Students also have access to:

Mooting in the mock courtroom

Client interview competitions

Study abroad options

A very active Law Society and a great range of sports clubs

Guest speakers, networking events and an annual Careers Fair

Lecturers at Bangor are experts in their fields - many of them have real impact on government policy and international legal issues. Their industry links create opportunities for internships, placements and connections that help you understand how the legal world really works.

📚 A flexible, modern Law degree
One of the benefits of Bangor’s LLB programmes is the range of optional modules. Alongside your core law subjects, you can choose modules in areas like:

International Law

Media Law

Law and Technology

Law and Contemporary Issues

This flexibility lets you shape your degree around emerging areas of law that employers increasingly look for, helping you stand out after graduation.

🚀 Career pathways
Studying Law at Bangor opens doors into a huge range of careers - whether you’re interested in becoming a solicitor or barrister, working in city firms, public bodies, international organisations or roles in social justice and policy. Bangor’s professional connections mean you get genuine insight and opportunities to explore these paths.

💬 Final thoughts
Bangor doesn’t just teach you law - it helps you become a legal professional. The supportive environment, hands-on opportunities and strong community make it a great place to study if you're looking for a personalised, engaging and career-focused experience.

I know that this forum exists mainly for marketing by the universities that need to do marketing, but need you be so full-on? You are of course being paid for that post, and you ought to disclose that fact.

Almost every law school claims to be unique in offering a law course that addresses real world legal issues.

Almost every law school claims to be unique because it has a legal advice clinic.

In reality, most law schools are much of a muchness.
