Return to study - adult nursing

Hello! This is a SFE question.

In 2019 I started an Adult Nursing BSc Hons course but due to many mitigations (including the pandemic) I was unable to finish and in October 2023 I was unable to continue. I had 4 years of funding (some of that was not full years but only part as only had to do 1 module). Could I start again? Thank you! I’m an undergraduate if that makes any difference!

Hi,

Can you confirm if you will be going back to the same course/university or starting a new course and university? Did you receive a qualification from your previous course?

Thanks,
Claire

Hi Claire,

Thank you. I would want to go to a different university but Adult Nursing BSc Hons again. I was awarded a Certificate of Higher Education which was awarded in February 2024. I have 120 credits at level 4 and 100 at level 5.

Would you be starting from year 1? Would the new course be full time or part time? Was your previous study full time?

Thanks,
Claire

I am 99% sure I would have to unfortunately, however I can’t say yes for definitely. I was full time for 2 of the years and then the other years I only did some of the modules are repeat but believe due to placements it was classed as full time. It’s honestly so confusing. Thank you for your help.

Funding on a new Allied Health Professions Course (AHP) or NHS course will be exempt from previous study and ELQ rules. Therefore, if the student already holds a degree or has previous study they will still be eligible to access the full package of funding, so long as they are not already registered in the field they are planning to study.

Repeat study on AHP and NHS courses will be treated as standard meaning that the student will only qualify for one additional year of full funding.

Starting a New AHP Course - If the student has previous study on an AHP course and starts a new AHP course this will not be counted as repeat study. This will be considered as a new course, so they will have access to the full package of funding.

Thanks,
Claire

Thank you Claire, so from what I am understanding is, if i changed to say Childrens Nursing - I would be eligible for the funding. That is really helpful. Thank you again!
