UCAS application mistake after submitting

So I’ve been a total idiot and just noticed now one of my nat5’s has been put down wrong on my application (2024 instead of 2025), the grade and subject itself is correct but now I’m really panicking as I’ve received three offers already and now I don’t know if my application will have to be cancelled and resubmitted. I retook the subject in fifth year (2025) as I wasn’t happy with my grade in fourth year (2024) and because I did all my other nat5’s in 2024 I put it in those without thinking. I’m really anxious now and I don’t know what to do as I’ve gotten offers already

Email the unis that gave you offers. Aoologise sincerely and tell them your mistakes.

Call UCAS, aoologise and tell them your mistake. Very probably they could rectify. Good luck.

Email your Unis and explain - and complete this online form to update UCAS Request to amend qualifications listed on your application | UCAS. It'll be fine - don't worry.

I spoke to my guidance teacher and I was told to leave it as it doesn’t matter, if it was a whole grade or subject I’d mistook it would need changed. Is it still worth it to email?

UCAS will verify your quals with the relevant exam boards so to avoid anything tricky, just fill in the form.

When do they tend to verify? Is it near results day or immediately

Why, have you got something to hide?

It doesn't really matter when they verify it because even if you have an offer at that point, if it's found the offer was made due to a fraudulent application (such as by not declaring a qualification properly) they uni can nullify their offer.

You should deal with this now. It's only a problem if you ignore it and do nothing.

No, I mistakenly changed the date of when I achieved one of my subjects. If I was going to be deceitful I would’ve changed the grade or subject lol, but i understand where your coming from. I’m just not sure to listen to my guidance teacher and leave it alone or change it asap like yous recommend, that’s why I’m curious when they’d verify your results because if it was immediately I’d take action right now and fill in the form. If it was later they verified I would discuss more with my guidance teacher

It’s not like it’s detrimental as in a grade or the subject itself? Surely the date I got it isn’t life or death on my application. Plus in Scotland nat5’s are the equivalent to GSCE and all the unis I’ve gotten offers from require the grade at a B, date isn’t specified. Highers which is Scottish A-Level is what they really consider. Surely they won’t reject me or reconsider the application because of a date

LOOK MAN I WAS JOKING I WAS BEING SARCASTIC.
but it’s a very fixable mess-up. Calm the hell down your offers are not going to explode into flames over this.
This exact mistake happens literally every single year to hundreds of Scottish kids. UCAS and the unis know it’s common as hell when people crash Nat 5s early and then retake one later. A one-year date typo on a single Nat 5, where the subject and (most importantly) the higher grade are correct, is not going to get your entire application cancelled or your offers revoked. At absolute worst, it triggers a quick verification check.
What you do right now (today, not tomorrow):

1.

Log into your UCAS Hub.

2.

Go to “View correspondence” or “Contact us” and send them a short, polite message that says exactly this (copy-paste it if you want):
“I have noticed an error on my submitted application. One of my National 5 qualifications (subject name) was incorrectly entered under the 2024 sitting when it should be 2025 (retake). The grade and awarding body are correct. Please let me know if I need to provide any additional evidence from SQA. Thank you.”

3.

That’s it. Do not withdraw your application, do not “cancel and resubmit” that would be ten times worse and you’d lose your offers.

What will actually happen 99% of the time:

UCAS will just note the correction on your file.

The three unis that gave you offers will either do nothing or, at most, send you a quick email saying “please send us confirmation of the correct sitting” (you’ll just forward the SQA email/PDF you already have).

Life goes on, you still have your offers.

The only way this becomes a real problem is if you ghost it and hope nobody notices. SQA results are electronically verified for Scottish applicants, so when the final check runs in summer 2026 the mismatch will flag. Fix it now and it’s a non-event.
Stop panicking, send the message today, and go touch grass. You’re fine.

Haha, I get you. I was only asking a question and didn’t mean to come across snippy or anything lol. Very worried if you couldn’t tell. I appreciate the explanation and help a lot, thank you
