Mechanical Engineering UCAS choice

I had sent my UCAS in last month, and received my offers, and I am now deciding what to choose for my firm and insurance.

I am predicted A*A*A and have achieved an A in EPQ.

I am currently thinking of putting Uni of Sheffield as my firm as I really enjoyed the open day here, and have been given an offer of A*AA, but I am not opposed to Leeds which gave the same offer. Because the offer is quite high, I would want to put an insurance, and I’m stuck between Uni of Birmingham (AAA), Loughborough (AAB) or Swansea (BBB). Would anyone be able to give ideas or help? Thanks.

You will be invited to some sort of offer holders visit day by each Unis - these are usually held in the spring term. These are an excellent opportunity to look around more critically, ask more detailed questions about the course and talk with current students etc.

You have until May to make these decisions, and there is no advantage at all in making an earlier decision. Sit on your hands. Think carefully. And don't make a final decision until Easter.

That’s great advice. You’ve got plenty of time to decide, and attending offer-holder days can really help. It’s a good chance to get a feel for the campus, talk to current students about the course and the area, and learn more about what studying there is actually like.
