Psychology BSc requirements

I currently study graphics, photography, and film at Alevel and have had a change in career plan and want to do Psychology to then do Forensic psychology at masters. A lot of unis require a science, which I knew, but I was wondering if I can still apply for universities that have no subject specific requirements and still be given an offer? My teacher told me to only apply for foundation years which I am doing but I really want to apply to Cardiff which doesn’t offer a foundation year
If there's no subject requirements at AL then you can apply directly for entry into year 1 - just make sure you meet and Maths requirement.

Best thing is to ask them directly…Cardiff is actually fairly unusual amongst the higher ranking unis because it doesn’t specify a science at A level and I don’t know if this is because of their widening participation ideals? How did you do with maths and science at GCSE? Do you not think you might struggle with the course content having no sciences at a higher level, Cardiff is a high tariff uni for psychology.

Hi,

You can apply to psychology courses that don’t have specific subject requirements, as some universities do accept students without a science background.

If you’re ever unsure, it’s always worth contacting admissions teams via email to double check.

Hope this helps,
