Manchester Med Rejection - UKWPMED

Just received a rejection from manchester and i thought it was quite unusual i hope someone here could provide some clarification or may be in the same boat as me.
I got 2000 B1 ucat (6th decile) 88889999D* at GCSEs and AAA predicted.
I though as im a UKWPMED applicant these stats would be able to get me an interview, i guess not?

Hi, same here
I have 2030 B1 99999999888 with A*A*A predicted - it’s definitely because they have a set UCAT cut off - I think they mentioned it on their website, which is misleading because they originally said - 1900s,1800s would be competitive.
Don’t be too worried, Manchester is getting higher on the ranks as a uni so they probably had a crazy amount of people coming there as their 1st or safety option for people with HIGH UCATS (2200+) A lot of other good unis will have a holistic interview standards but Manchester basically only look at UCAT (and min grades)

Its disheartening to be misled but ig we'll wait to hear back from other unis hopefully

Were you also a UKWPMED student?

I got rejected too for low ucat. Which is understandable as my ucat was 4th decile band 2. 99988877 AAA UKWPMED aswell

There is no misleading, they say the cut off would be set once they know the UCAT of all applications. They can't predict what applications they will get.

They said 1800-1900 would be a competitive score, however have been rejecting those with 2000+

That was their estimate based on previous year. I don't understand how they misled you? If more high scorers apply than anticipated then it's natural this happens. Besides if you advertise such a low cut off more people will apply.

My daughter, International student, has also been rejected at Manchester for not competitive UCAT with 91% decile 2240 SBT band 2. Crazy out there
it does seem that the UCAT needed this year is higher than Manchester themselves anticipated
guess they were only trying to be helpful by giving a guide figures, but it appears to have caught out many applicants who understood (having read the numbers cited ) that they had a ‘competitive score’

A expect as soon as one medical school looks like a good option for people with high UCAT they then get many more application from people with very high UCAT.

Maybe it would be better to set a minimum, then randomly choose who are invited to interview....
