Got a cambridge interview and cried (not out of joy)

Is this a sign?
I received an interview and at first I had no reaction. Then I realised that I didn't feel happy about it and I just started crying. I've stopped crying now but I still don't feel happy with getting my interview. Is this a sign that if i do get an offer from cambridge, I shouldn't accept?

All the best for your interview. Could you please let us know for which college, subject and stats. Thanks

What was making you upset? Is it nerves over the interview or pressure or do you feel like youve been pressured to apply when its not what you want?

I'm not sure what was making me upset. Tbh idk upset is even the right word. I was originally excited for a response, but when i finally so the email I think i felt underwhelm and then just down.
For ages i was super indecisive on whether i wanted to go to Cambridge or not. I was advised (definitely not forced) my family to just apply and then if/once I get an offer I can then make a decide to accept or reject

if you were just overwhelmed in the moment i dont think thats a significant mark on your feelings towards the uni, you should be super proud of yourself for getting an interview btw!

Did you cry out of relief? Has it been a long wait or did you have to specifically meet something to be able to get an offer from Cambridge?

If the idea of an interview at Cambridge fills you with dread, then remember you don't have to do this.
Just withdraw your Cambridge choice and focus on your other Unis.

My middle daughter cried when she got her Cambridge offer insisting they hated her as they asked for a higher than predicted grade for one A level and totally dismissed another A level! She loved her time there in the end.

Hans Gruber from Die Hard said it best. "...and Alexander wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer."

This is the anti-climactic feeling you get when you invest everything into an outcome and then achieve it. There's wisdom to be gleaned from this experience. Life is not about the destination, it's about the journey.

It's not a sign that you shouldn't go to Cambridge. What it's a sign of is that getting invited for interview isn't the top of the mountain. It's just a staging post. Getting there is a tremendous achievement, but now the next challenge awaits.

Whether or not that means going to Cambridge, only you can decide. But what you should know when you set yourself ambitious targets is that your motivation should never be the emotional payoff in that moment when you achieve your goal. You don't apply for Cambride because you want to feel a buzz when you succeed. You apply because you want to pursue an education there.
