HELP A level Photography

i need help for component 1 my concept is exploring the presentation of fragility and power of women in digital media and my theme is how society makes women feel fragile when there actually powerful and i need shoot ideas and photographer ideas of who to look at so it can link really nicely
Hi!

I did A Level Photography, and I did Pearson Edexcel? I am pretty sure you do as well, but can i ask for you to confirm please?

Here are some photographers that I would recommend you look into:

Dorothea Lange - documentary photography, relating to the Great Depression. She demonstrated the power of women in the face of adversity during this time.

Nan Goldin - feminist photographer whose work deals with issues such as domestic abuse.

Mona Hatoum - mixed media artist who works with photography alongside other mediums. Images of the female body that address themes of marginalisation and social/political control.

Shirin Neshat - Iranian photographers whose work presents female presence in a male dominated culture.

Cindy Sherman - work mostly consists of self portraits that explore identity and gender and challenge stereotypes.

I hope this can help provide you with a start to your research

Great! I am glad

My advice on this will be experimenting!

Try to see if you can test different angles and ways of setting up in the studio.

Photography A Level is all about experimentation and the teachers/examiners will like it if you test the boundaries of these. Try different lighting as well, dark spaces, brightly lit, lighting particular parts of the face for accentuation for example could be a fun idea to play with. For example, side lit faces often bring a dramatic mood to the image and this could definitely be played with for when you are trying to talk about the power of a woman.

Think about how you can photograph women in action, or in a staged set up.

Also experiment with photographing outside and on location, this will prove that you are dedicated to the subject and are willing to try new things.

This isn't necessarily shoot ideas, but it could be fun to experiment also with editing and potential physical manipulation of you works. For my photography A Level, I embroidered into my works to add another element to the images, you could also try collage and photomontage as well.

I am sorry if this is not much help on specifics but I hope this gives you some things to think about and experiment with.
