Structural Engineering with Architecture (Uni of Edinburgh) thoughts?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently in Year 13 and waiting on a decision from the University of Edinburgh for the course mentioned above. I’ve also applied to a range of Architectural Engineering courses elsewhere. I haven’t been able to visit Edinburgh yet as I live quite far away, so I’m looking for any advice or experiences that might help me decide whether to firm it if I do get an offer. I love the feel of the University from what I've seen online and I know it has a great reputation however I do have some things I am unsure about compared to the other universities I am considering..
My main concerns are:
The cost of living in Edinburgh
The distance from home
Whether the “with Architecture” aspect of the course is worth the additional time and expense
From the Edinburgh website, I see that they do not offer a degree in only Structural Engineering, so I wonder why they tied it into architecture purposefully? Just a note, I was firstly interested in architecture before I came across architectural engineering and the 'with architecture' element is what drew me towards the course.
If anyone has done this course, knows someone who has, or has insight into studying in Edinburgh for something similar, I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts.
