masters and bachelors

so i’ve actually already sent off my app, but i can’t remember if they’re all masters or just some
i thought it was better to take the opportunity while i have it considering it’s only one extra year
now however i’m heavily doubting my abilities of even managing the course outright, let alone a masters
could be post applying clarity or pure overthinking, one or the other

so, that being said, if i accept a masters course, then decide after the four years “hey i’m done, i just want to be done and graduate with a bachelors instead”, can i do that? or do i have to stick it out for the extra year and the masters
does that make sense

thank you

I suspect each university could be different. A lot of the courses week looked at said everyone started the same course and later down the line could either continue to masters or stick with a bachelors. One university said you can only continue to the masters if you get a 2:1. Probably worth you looking at the course information for each university, it is probably all explained on their websites.

Totally makes sense and honestly, a lot of people freak out about this exact thing after they apply.
Short version: yes, in most UK unis you can exit an integrated master’s (MEng/MSci/etc.) with a bachelor’s if you decide you’ve had enough. You’re basically doing the first 3 years as the bachelor anyway. If you don’t meet the grade requirement to continue to the master’s year, or you choose not to, they’ll usually award you the bachelor’s degree.
BUT:
This depends on the specific university, so you should double-check your course handbook or email admissions. Most places allow it, but a few have different rules.
You haven’t trapped yourself. If you get to year 3 and think “nope,” you can almost always walk away with the bachelor’s.
And honestly? Doubting yourself after applying is super normal. Doesn’t mean you can’t do it.
