Going back to Uni

Hi i'm seriously considering going back to Uni to do a Creative Writing course, is age any barrier? i'm age 45 just a bit worried i'd be out of place, tho i do love to party in my spare time.

Hi there! I currently study Biomedical Science at London Metropolitan University.
Universities have a wider range of backgrounds than you might expect! My course has many mature students and I would say it's a pretty even blend between people fresh out of sixth form and people attending further education slightly later! At least from my experience as a uni student, I don't think you'd be out of place. Anyone should be welcome to study at any time and I think it would be an amazing step to take!

Your uni experience will always be what you make of it. Being a mature student isn't an issue at all, people tend to be welcoming and social and there are so many events and societies you can get involved in, age shouldn't be a barrier. I'm sure the uni will have ways of connecting you with other mature students as well if needs be.

Hi, great to hear you're considering doing a Creative Writing course! I'm at Falmouth University and we have lots of mature students, and they blend really well with the younger students, so I really don't think age is an issue and you definitely won't be the only one! If you do decide that you don't want to go back to traditional uni, you could always look at an online course, which you could even do part time if needed - at Falmouth we have an on-site and a separate online Creative Writing course that might be worth looking into!
