Offer timings

Hi everyone! My application to UCAS was sent last Thursday, the 20th November. I applied for Mechanical Engineering MEng with an industrial year at these universities:
University of Nottingham
University of Leeds
University of Exeter
University of York
Lancaster University

I was surprisingly offered a place at Leeds the following morning (Friday 21st November)! My question is, does anybody know the average application "hear backs" for each of my unis, as I was expecting responses to come in around January/after the deadline, especially Leeds, as I researched they sent their offers a very long time after applications had been sent. But then, they sent it less than 24 hrs later! So perhaps other universities also send offers early, too. Thanks so much!

Offers at University of Nottingham are made daily once applications open. The applications themselves are processed in due course and may take anywhere between a few days to a few weeks after submission. The timings depend on the current demand and other factors (holiday periods, for example).

For all these Unis, it could be anytime between a few days and next May. Each Uni has a different way of doing things, and so the timing of any offers really is not significant.

Hi there,

We don't usually give a timeframe on sending out offers, as this will depend on the department and course you have applied to, your qualifications and whether any more information is needed (eg an interview).

Please don’t worry if you haven’t heard yet, though! If your application was submitted by 6pm (UK time) on 14 January 2026, the universities you applied to will have to respond to your application by 13 May 2026 (according to key UCAS dates).
