Hi,

I’d recommend looking at the entry requirements for the courses you may be interested in at the universities you’re aiming for, even if you’re not completely decided yet. This will help you choose A-levels that keep your options open.

Taking A-level Maths usually keeps a wide range of STEM courses accessible, along with subjects like Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. For humanities, English Literature and History are generally valued by universities. If you’re more interested in Sociology or Politics, you could consider swapping, but make sure it won’t limit your potential course choices. As someone who did A-level Biology, Chemistry, and Sociology, I really enjoyed Sociology myself.

It’s all about balancing what you enjoy with what keeps your future options open if you’re unsure.

Hope this helps,

What kind of subjects are you considering at uni?
If youre interested in stem then consider whether having 2 core sciences may be needed/advantageous for your subject.
Also you do not need to do 4 subjects unless your school forces you to 🙂
I do bio and maths as a year 13 so happy to answer questions on those!
I can also tag someone who does sociology/politics/geography/psychology
