Warwick Computer Science course - will i get in ?

Hi Guys, I am currently on a gap year and applying to university for 2026. I achieved AAA in my a levels in computer science, maths and psychology. I am interested in two of Warwick's courses - cybersecurity and computer science. I meet the requirements to get an offer for cybersecurity but I am really keen on computer science which requires A*A*A. I am eligible for a contextual offer however its stated their usual contextual offer is A*AA so I was wondering if there's any chance at all they may offer me a place and drop two grades to let me in with AAA. or is it just not worth applying at all? I also was really close to an A* in all 3 subjects so its really annoying

Hi there,

Computer Science at Warwick is a very competitive course, and applicants are assessed on a combination of factors: A-level grades, GCSE performance, TMUA score, and any contextual indicators. Because you’re eligible for a contextual offer, you aren’t required to sit the TMUA.

Although the standard contextual offer is A*AA, admissions sometimes make offers to strong applicants who fall slightly below the typical grade profile, depending on the overall strength of the application. With AAA already achieved and being close to A*s, it is still worth applying. If the rest of your academic profile is strong, there is definitely a chance you could receive an offer. However, given how competitive Computer Science is, it’s also important to be realistic and there is still a possibility you may not be offered a place, even with contextual eligibility.

If Computer Science at Warwick is a course you're genuinely excited about, applying is absolutely reasonable. Just make sure you also have some safer options alongside it.

Best wishes,
Joseph
