I’m really struggling to pick my firm & insurance

I got 5 offers for law

. Queen Mary University: AAA (contextual)
. Uni of Surrey: BBC (contextual)
. Uni of Reading: AAB
. Royal Holloway: AAB
. Oxford Brookes: BCC

My predictions are A*BB
and I also want to make a realistic choice, and also take into account the universities leniency on results day. I know Holloway & Reading are lenient especially with clearing

Congratulations. So great getting all 5 offers.

Maybe it depends on your own prediction on your final grades in deciding whethe to firm Queen Mary or Reading/Royal Holloway. If you are confident in pushing one of the Bs to A (i.e. achieving A*AB or AAB), you may consider firming Queen Mary and insuring Reading/Royal Holloway.

Reading, Royal Holloway, Oxford Brookes and Surrey went into Clearing in recent years, so they are likely to be quite lenient on grades. So get prepared on Results Day, even you missed your grades you still have chance of getting in. Good luck.

Hi there,

Congratulations on all your offers, that's amazing! I personally can't give much advice on your choices, but just wanted to say that there is no rush to decide on a firm/insurance choice

I believe the deadline for this isn't until June 3rd next year, so you have around 6 months before you need to finalise your choices. If you can, go to offer holder days for each uni when they start running next year, as you'll be able to get a feel of the course, staff, and the location of the uni. Hopefully, current students will be there for you to ask questions to and get to know their personal experiences.

I've done a bit of research and found some info/links that might be useful for you!:

QMUL - last year's offer holder days ran from late April to early May online, so might be a similar time next year

Chat to a current Law student at QMUL: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/unibuddy/

Surrey - offer holder days TBA but link has contact info for any questions: https://www.surrey.ac.uk/apply/undergraduate/offer-holder-events

Chat to current Law student at Surrey: https://www.surrey.ac.uk/student-life/chat-to-our-students

Reading - offer holder days usually run in Feb/March/April: https://www.reading.ac.uk/ready-to-study/visiting-and-open-days/offer-holder-days

Chat to current Law student at Reading: https://www.reading.ac.uk/about/chat-to-our-students

Chat to current Law student at RHU: https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/chat/

Oxford Brookes - offer holder day will be 21st March 2026: https://www.brookes.ac.uk/open-days/offer-holder-day

Chat to current student at Oxford Brookes (no Law ambassadors but you can still get people's experiences and thoughts of the uni itself): https://www.brookes.ac.uk/study/contact-and-meet-us/chat-to-a-student-ambassador

Hopefully these are useful! I really recommend getting in touch with a current student for the uni's to get their personal experiences, especially the Law ambassadors! To find them, click the links and then filter by 'Area of study' to get Law. Its a great way to get more information, especially if you can't give all the unis a visit in person

Ultimately, don't worry too much about making your decisions now - your mind might change in the next 6 months so you need to give yourself time to work it all out!

All the best!

You will be invited to Offer Holder Visit Days at these Unis. These are usually held in the Spring Term.
These are a good opportunity to have a more critical look around, listen to a more detailed course presentation, talk to current students about what they like about being at that Uni, and think about the reality of being there for 3 or 4 years.

You do not need to make a definite decision about this until Easter at the earliest.
Sit on your hands, and wait.

Hi.

I'm Sid, currently studying LLB Law w/ international business at the University of Reading.

Reading is a respected institution, and the Law programme attracts many strong applicants each year so it’s great that you have got an offer!

Our main LLB Law degree you'll find a lot of flexibility and support. You can tailor your studies with optional modules in areas like commercial law.
I’m sure you know all the modules we do, but just as a refresher: Year 1 - contract, criminal, English legal systems and key skills, public law 1 , Tort (optional - law and society, research, Ethical GenAi), year 2 - Equity and trusts, eu law, land law, pubic law 2 (optional - banking law, research project, legal writing credit, religion and law, law of evidence, intro to ECHR, international law foundations, succession law, art and cultural heritage law, employment law). Year 3 - Dissertation, Research Writing Credit, Writing Credit Pro Bono and Professional Practice, ( optional - Commercial Law, Family Law, Gender and Law, International Law and Global Security, Jurisprudence, Children, Families and the State, Company Law, Intellectual Property Law, Medical Law, Revenue Law, International Children’s Rights, International Human Rights Law, Environmental and Climate Law, Young People, Crime and Justice, Equality Law, Critical Approaches to International Criminal Law and Justice). - subject to change.

As my fellow ambassadors said we do have upcoming taster & offer holder days that you will be invited too - it’s really worth attending these, we usually hold talks and student insights on our offer holder days , where much more detail is given about the course, uni life and opportunities. - if you are unsure about any offer holder day timings / if you need to update any contact details make sure to email our admissions team.

There may be flexibility with certain entry requirements and we can offer contextual offers for our firm choice offer holders especially. It’s certainly worth contacting our admissions team with any case by case questions.

The Careers Team and Law School regularly host events, insight days, and employer talks to help you explore different legal paths. - we have connections with key law firms in regards to offering you opportunities to apply for internship schemes and pro bono charity work which are vital in securing a training contract etc. we also have a Mlaw course - after your main degree has finished, for a SQE prep.

There's a clear focus on helping you prepare for your future, whether that's becoming a solicitor, barrister, or working in a related field.

Outside of academics, Reading offers a vibrant social scene. There are over 100 student societies, including the Law Society, which organises mooting competitions, socials, networking events and more. Plus, the university hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including club nights and career fairs, so there's always something
going on.

If you have any more questions about the course, or student life at Reading, feel free to reply to this message, l'd be happy to help!

Kind Regards,
Sid

Incorrect.
If you receive your last UCAS decision on or before 31 March 2026, your reply deadline is 6 May 2026.

Hi there,

Congratulations on all your offers, that’s great news! 😊

We’d recommend joining one of our offer-holder events to help you make up your mind. You’ll be invited to our Applicant Visitor Day soon, where you’ll have the chance to really get to know the Law department and see if you can picture yourself studying here. Keep an eye on your inbox for your invite in the next few weeks.

Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Best wishes,
Royal Holloway, University of London Official Rep

Hey how long did it take to get a response from surrey and reading

Good afternoon,

Responses really vary between courses and year groups.

All students should have responses by the middle of July 2026. Then, universities will confirm or reject places based on the results on results day.

The UCAS key dates and deadlines can be found on their website.

When I was applying to the university, I found it very helpful to attend an Open Day. However, for students who live far away or do not have access to an Open Day, there is a Virtual Tour that prospective students can view from the comfort of their own homes. I highly recommend taking a look at the Virtual Tour, as it offers an insightful view of the campus.

The University of Reading offers an ambassador scheme, allowing prospective students to connect with current students. You can find more information here.

All the best,
Ella
