University choices for geography

basically im stuck between my five choices; the 3 i know i will apply to are cardiff swansea and aberdeen, however as im taking into nightlife , im not sure about putting bath spa as my safe. when doing further reding its small and expensive and hasnt got the best nightlife, what should i put instead that is a safe option (lower than bbc), but has good nightlife and is still good for a geography course. also, i was thinking of applying for a foundation year for geo at loughborough, but thats not got the best nightlife either, so then i thought leeds and doing an arts and humanities foundation year into a ba in geography, whats better or is there anywhere else i should consider?

Hi there,

I'd definitely recommend checking out LJMU for Geography! Our entry requirements are BCC (104 points) and Liverpool is famous for its student population and busy nightlife - so it ticks both boxes

Here is some info about the course, as well as the link to the webpage:
https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/courses/undergraduates/2026/30773-geography-bsc-hons

Entry - BCC

Accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)

Residential field trips for core modules included in fees (currently include North Wales and Greece)

Opportunities to study abroad or take either a 4-6 week placement during summer or a full placement year

Modules include: Earth Systems, Human and Physical Landscapes, Hazards, GIS Skills, World Archaeology, Environmental Pollution, Climate Change, Global Issues, Cryosphere Catchments and Oceans, Cold Environments, River Monitoring, Coastal and Marine Management and more

You can also watch a video about the Geography course here; https://youtu.be/sRxMOgciHUo

The BSc (Hons) Geography course is based at our City Campus on Byrom Street, and you can take a virtual tour of our buildings here, as well as seeing which accommodations are closeby:
https://360tour.ljmu.ac.uk/??s=pano10

Byrom St is pretty much in Liverpool City Centre, so you'll always be surrounded by the city life, and are only about 10 minutes away from all the nightlife! There are student deals almost every day if you go to the right places, where you can get drinks from as little as £2.50 so it's super affordable. As well, Liverpool is one of the cheapest cities for students, especially in terms of accommodation too, with LJMU approved accommodation prices starting from £98pw.

There are hundreds of sports and societies to get involved with too, and the range of options is amazing! You can see what our Students' Union offers here:
https://www.jmsu.co.uk/groups?group_type=societies-991&group_cat=&search=

If you have any more questions about student life in Liverpool, you can chat in more detail to a current student (including myself) through this link:

I hope this was helpful! Please get in touch if you have any further questions

Hi again!

I also forgot to mention that LJMU offers a Natural Sciences foundation programme, and once you finish this year you will automatically progress onto the BSc Geography course

The entry requirement for the foundation year is DDD (72 UCAS points) and you can get more information here: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/courses/undergraduates/2026/40773-geography-bsc-hons-fnd
